David Mellott is a native Kansan who has spent the better part of his life surrounded by horses. He dedicates his career to moving horse and rider alike to achieve their maximum potential. David Mellott Performance Horses’ philosophy of training is built on the foundation that every horse and rider is unique. To that end, training focuses on a goal of continuous and sustainable improvement. David’s fiancé and partner Kris has also spent her life with horses. She is a seasoned rider well acquainted with showing performance horses. Her collegiate career was spent as part of the Morehead State Equestrian Team.

As parents, David and Kris understand the delicate balance needed to keep youth riders motivated and enthusiastic. More importantly, they understand that success is measured one situation at a time. David and Kris believe in educating riders rather than just training them on skills. Their unique backgrounds make them particularly effective with youth riders and appreciated by all clients.

David Mellott Performance Horses feels strongly about the importance of giving back to the equestrian community and insuring the future of competition for all who want to participate. David is currently a Board Member of the Kansas Quarter Horse Association and has been involved with a variety of other organizations from the Kansas Paint Horse Association to the 4-H system. He and Kris are also both long-time members of the American Quarter Horse Association, Kansas Quarter Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association, and the Palomino Association.
